ART IN THE PARK-Vineyard Trails 2017

Art in the park - West Kelowna

Art in the Park – Vineyard Trials

ART IN THE PARK-VINEYARD TRAILS first event of eight of the season will be held on Mother’s Day, May 14th, from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm in the vineyards of Quails’ Gate Winery, 3303 Boucherie Road, West Kelowna.

The new ART IN THE PARK –Vineyard Trails is the next generation.  It has been developed by the original organizers of the well-known and popular ART IN THE PARK series of West Kelowna, which drew up to over 500 people per day.  This is a show in motion, as it travels from selected winery to winery all located in West Kelowna.  It will be pairing some of the best artists, artisans and wineries in the Okanagan Valley.  Locally inspired creations will be shown in stone, glass, wood, fiber arts, oil, acrylic and water colour and displayed with the backdrop of West Kelowna’s some of the most beautiful wineries and vineyards.

ART IN THE PARK-Vineyard Trails invites you join us to share a visually exciting experience, with art representing our valley, proudly displayed by the artists and artisans who create them in this place we call home.

This event has grown up and evolved, much like our valley, borrowing from the long running California Wine and Art Festivals, while combining it with our own local brand “ART IN THE PARK”.  Visitors are drawn to these events, while locals provide loyal attendance, returning year after year.  The city of West Kelowna has offered their support for these annual cultural and social events.  According to Bob Kirsch, City of West Kelowna, Director of Recreation and Cultural events, “Art and Culture give a community its soul.  It is one of the anchors that make a community whole and West Kelowna is well on its way to establishing a strong Art and Culture community, which also provided a connection with other aspects of the community such as business and tourism.”

“This year’s Art in the Park- Vineyard Trails program is an exciting way for people to experience and explore the Westside Wine Trails”, says John Perrot, Economic Development Officer for the City of West Kelowna, adding “We are pleased to see this program evolve and feature the talents of our artist and wine makers for what’s being expected to be one of the busiest tourist seasons in recent years.

We are delighted to be the host venue for Art in the Park, series again this year,” remarks Lindsay Kelm, Communication & Marketing Manager at Quails’ Gate Winery.  “This is an amazing celebration of our talented artists as well as exceptional wine, culinary and tourism experience that West Kelowna has to offer.”

Allan Waidman, stone sculptor, and co-host states that the wineries enjoy that the show moves from winery to winery”.  They were quick to get on board in hosting the events.  Wineries tell us that they see the natural marriage of fine art and wine.
